COPY OF
2015

Copy of is an hybrid work by Yürgen — nom de plume for Fabian Wolf — between video and installation, which explores bonds and boundaries between what is perceived to be original and its copy. In a performative video, a 7’’ single of the song My Generation by The Who, was copied by hand, through basic analogue molding and modelling techniques. 10 consecutive copies, or “generations”, were then produced applying the same process for each of them. The resulting vinyl copies are certainly unplayable, yet the naive craft of the artist’s process turns into an act of creation more than destruction.

Yürgen is a collective founded by Fabian Wolf (based in Düsseldorf) and Caroline Hauff (based in Berlin) that provides audiovisual-exploration and unusual imagery on a base of art-forms in all media: current trends in science, arts and society forged down into collaborative, highly subjective artworks.
